Damn right, he was good about sharing being on top. Hell, he loved it when she'd climb on top of him, Jim had no qualms about that. Right now he was just so wrapped up in her, and wanting to feel her so much closer, that he was reacting more out of instinct than anything else.

Selfishly, he wanted to reach into the pocket of his jacket as it rested on the floor so that he could turn off his phone. He didn't want to deal with calls, or texts, but then it dawned on him that those that could call him thought he was still out of town. And if the military needed him, well, that was a different story but he just hoped it wouldn't get to that.

Right now his focus was Carol. The way her fingers trailed along his skin, how she felt against him, and he gave a soft hum of approval. "The Avengers can wait." The whole world could wait, and he smiled at her, his own adoration for her clear in his features. God, he had missed her so damn much that it felt like it took his breath away from how happy he was to be back home. "I'm exactly where I need to be."

"Hm," he hummed at first when she said his name, ready to keep kissing her, but when she said it again he pulled back just enough to look at her. His brow furrowed slightly when he noticed she was struggling with her words, some paranoid side of him suddenly worrying that this was too much, that he had assumed far more than what could be.

But the look in her eyes weren't telling him to worry. If anything, it filled him with such warmth that it made his features soften. Moving his hand from her side, he moved it so that he could rest it against the side of her face, his thumb brushing softly against her cheek.

He could say them. He knew he could, but he only held back in case she wasn't ready. Which was okay - they had all the time in the world.

Carol's biggest problem was that her relationships seemed to explode the moment that they got serious. There was a very real fear that by saying this to Jim, by making this commitment, it was going to happen. And she didn't want that. She wanted him.

But...they've been seeing each other for quite a while now, not to mention the time spent as friends before dating, and they didn't have any looming expectations of each other. They had a deep understanding of the other's job and no guilt if they were called away on a mission. If she couldn't say it to Jim, who could she ever say it to?

It was now or never. If she didn't do it now she'd make excuses and then next thing she'd know he'd be deployed again for another eight months. "I love you, Jim."

Knowing what was coming and hearing it out loud was such an enormous difference. In their time together, Jim made it a point to make sure that she knew they could take this at their own pace. There was no rush, no expectations if they didn't want it to be. Like Carol, he had his own share of rough relationships that eventually just turned him off of dating for a while (and let's not talk about the last one, and the way it had essentially crumbled apart after Tony had gone missing in Afghanistan).

With Carol, though, it was different. Maybe it really was the fact that they had been friends before that, that they had so much in common. It was what worried him about saying the words out loud; the last thing he wanted to do was scare her, or make her feel cornered. Because she meant so damn much to him, because he was willing to wait forever if that's what she wanted before they could say the words to each other. It wouldn't change how he felt about her at all.

But she was saying them, and he realized that earlier he had been wrong. Earlier he had assumed he couldn't be happier than just by having her in his arms, but this? This was really happiness, and he leaned in to kiss her. It was sweet and slow, as if to savor the words that had just crossed her lips.

"I love you, too." His voice was soft as he pulled back again so that she could see him, and she could see for herself the love he felt for her. That he wasn't lying or just saying the words because she had. "I love you, Carol."

Knowing that there was no pressure, knowing that he was in it for the long haul and willing to wait as long as she wanted was one of the main reasons that she said it. Jim really understood her - possibly better than she understood herself at times. He never explicitly asked her for something (except for dinner requests) and it was appreciated. More often than not, they were on the same wavelength anyway.

Letting the words out and hearing them come back from him made her feel warm and light. Like there was nothing between them and now all they had to be was happy. At no point did she feel like he was lying or just saying them back because he felt obligated. The way he looked at her and held her in his arms said everything. There was no flash of panic or concern. They were always honest with each other, only ever skirting around issues that were confidential from missions. They had no time for games or bullshit.

So she just grinned at him before kissing him again. It seemed impossible that she could ever be happier than she was right now.

Jim was sure that his face was probably going to hurt tomorrow from smiling so much after being in work mode for eight months. Especially because, after hearing Carol tell him that she loved him, he just didn't think he could stop. It was such a wonderful feeling, and he eagerly kissed her back. He wanted to get lost here, and just find a way to freeze time so that they could be there together as long as possible.

He loved her, she loved him. Could things be any more perfect?

Deepening the kiss, Jim moved his hand back down to her side before sliding it under her shirt. She was perfect. God, she was so perfect, and when he had to break apart so that he could catch his breath, he moved enough so that his lips could go back to kissing her neck.

Carol was pretty sure that she would feel like she was in a daze for the next few days. How was it possible to feel this good? Feel this happy? She had never felt it before and it was just so incredible. Carol didn't want to leave his presence for the next few days, if possible.

Her hand moved back under his shirt again, but this time is more purposefully started pushing the fabric up with it. She wanted more skin, more contact. Now that she knew he was safe, and that he loved her, naturally it seemed like it was time to make love.

The kiss at her neck made her pause to relish the feeling. Could he just kiss her neck forever? God damn, he was good at it...

The way her hand ventured under his shirt made him smile before he pressed another kiss against her skin. With his shirt getting pushed up, that was all the signal he needed to know this was more than just a make out session.

Which was perfectly fine with him. He had missed her so much that he had been tempted to start that a while ago, but now that they had confessed they loved each other? He kissed her neck again, this time his lips lingering against her neck for a moment before gently tugging at her shirt.

"I think we're a little overdressed," he whispered as he pulled back, a devious smirk on his face.

Carol had also been tempted to start that a while ago, but she was trying to take her cues from him. She had woken him up, after all. Maybe he wanted to go back to bed. Well, now they could just go back to bed after.

"Extremely. It all has to go," she whispered back with a matching smirk. And since she started, she is going to pull off the first piece of clothing. Carol pulls his shirt up the rest of the way and quickly navigates him out of it. That's when her eyes catch the bruise that was hiding under his shirt. "I feel like I better avoid that."

She also knew that the bruises they both had wouldn't stop either of them for a second.

A soft chuckle rumbled from his throat when he saw her smirk, and if possible, his own grew as well. At the comment of the bruise, he blinked in confusion since that was the last thing he had been thinking about, until he looked over at it and remembered. "Oh, right. It's alright, babe. I'm good."

He felt wonderful, actually. But, when he helped her get out of her own shirt and saw her own bruises, he suddenly understood what she had meant. Because he didn't want to hurt her either, but, like her, he also knew that it wouldn't stop them from having some fun.

Before that could start, though, he moved so that he could press a kiss against her chest bone, then very softly pressed a kiss on her bruises. "God, you're gorgeous."

It highly unlikely that he could hurt her. Maybe be a little uncomfortable, but her super strength made her a bit more resilient. She was always more concerned about hurting him. Her powers were well under control and she never did hurt him, but she worried about it. She would never forgive herself if she hurt him.

But then he's kissing her chest and her torso and she's no longer worried about any of that. She's far more concerned about getting him out of those pants. Her hands moved over his back, reminding herself of the muscles there.

"I already said I love you. You don't have to flatter me," she teased with a grin. His position right now made it impossible for her to work on his pants, so she'll just start working on her own.

"Is it flattery if it's the absolute truth?" He returned her grin, and he helped her undress completely. It was also a way for him to run his hands along her body, his fingers caressing her skin in places that he had dreamt about during the months that he was gone, and if he took a little longer in certain spots it was because he had just missed her. So damn much.

As much as he wanted to spend all day memorizing her again, though, he was also aching to be closer to her. He wanted to make love to her, and the urge for it was more than obvious when he leaned in to kiss her lips again. While he used one elbow to prop himself up as he did so, he tried to fumble with his pants as he kissed her. Multitasking was a little difficult, considering his body was focusing on just her and how badly he wanted her, but he knew she'd help him undress, anyway.

"I guess not." Carol grinned at the compliment and took a moment to feel his hands move over her body. While he had been dreaming about those places on her body, Carol had been dreaming about his hands running all over them. She was having an argument with herself if she wanted to go slow and savor each other with touches and looks, or if they just needed to come together. Carol just wanted everything.

A grin settled on her lips as she noticed him fumbling with his pants while he kissed her. "I got it." So she reached down to help him lose the rest of his clothing to the pile on the floor. Once her hands brushed past and felt how hard he was, she knew that she needed him desperately. They could go back to the touching after.

Jim smiled into the kiss as she took over the task of helping him with his pants. Her touch was driving him to the brink of desperation, the desire to be inside her suddenly all he could think of.

Before moving closer to her, he trailed his fingers along the inside of her thigh until it traveled up. The feel of her was enough to make him breathless, and after kissing her breast he moved so that he could kiss her lips. He needed her, so damn closer and he deepened the kiss because suddenly words just weren't enough.

She groaned into the kiss, knowing how damn close he was and how it would only take a small little movement to give them what they both so desperately craved.

Carol returned his kiss hungrily and pressed her body close against his. "Jim, I want you. I need you so desperately." She figured that he knew that, but she had found the words and wanted him to hear them come from her lips.

"Okay, baby," he whispered raggedly, pressing a kiss against the side of her jaw before he slid into her. It felt so damn good to be in her again, to feel her so clothes that it was hard to find where she ended and he began, and he began thrusting into her. Slowly at first, but easily picking up speed as he kissed her and he moved a hand up against her breast.

"I love you," he breathed out, not wanting this to stop. "I love you so damn much."

He was rewarded with a deep, pleased groan as he slid inside of her. Dear god, Carol had missed this. Missed him. Missed being this intimate.

One of her legs came up to wrap around him and hold him close while her hands continued to move over his back. If there was a more perfect feeling in the universe she didn't want to know about it.

"I love you, Jim. God, I missed you so much." And she kissed him again.

Jim couldn't talk, his mouth too busy kissing her skin as he moved deeper into her. Everything he couldn't say, though, was expressed in his actions. In the way that he kissed her, the way that his hands roamed around her skin, the way their bodies moved together in sync.

God, he had missed her. He had missed her so damn much. Being here, with her like this, was absolute bliss and he moaned with pleasure as he felt his body beginning to reach climax.

"I love you. I love you, beautiful."

Carol's hands moved along his back, taking their time feeling out his skin and relishing the perfectness of the moment. Eight months had been too long to go without this.

She could feel her own orgasm building right with him and it wouldn't be much longer before he pushed her over the edge. So she turned her head so she could recapture his lips with her own and kiss him deeply right before it. This time it was her who was trying to swallow those three words.

Eight months had definitely been too long. If it wasn't for his top-secret missions that War Machine was assigned to by the Air Force, Jim would actually contemplate sending his coordinates to Carol so they could find a place for at least a few hours and they'd be able to be together even if it was for a moment.

But there was no point in thinking about that, at least not now. She was the most perfect woman he knew, and his adoration and love for her made this so perfect that he didn't want it to stop. He tried to extend this moment for as long as he could, and when his orgasm took over he let out a ragged gasp.

This was perfect, she was perfect, and the sense of absolute bliss felt like it was making him weightless as his body buzzed with the taste of her.

Damn those top-secret missions. Because seriously, even if he was halfway around the world she would make the flight to see him. Even if it was only a couple of hours. Maybe he could work that into his next mission? Possibly? Eight months just seemed especially cruel.

His orgasm was the last thing she needed to fall over the edge herself. The orgasm raced through her body as she let out a groan into the crook of his neck. Now she was certain that there was nothing that could feel more perfect than this.

She worked on regaining her breath as her hands continued to roam over his back. Could they just pause right now for a while? She felt like they deserved it.

He would definitely work on that whole long distance thing, because he didn't want to leave her side again. He had been missing her for far too long already, and now that they were together...

No, he didn't want to leave her again.

Pressing a kiss softly against her collarbone, he held her close to him and couldn't help but smile. Because he was happy. He was so damn happy, and he never wanted this to stop.

Carol returned his smile as she gently brushed the back of her hand over his cheek. "That was really damn good," she said with a bit of a chuckle. Obvious and a bit of an understatement, but she felt like she needed to say something. That if she didn't the whole thing wouldn't have existed in the first place.

Her hands moved lazily up and down his back as she leaned up to press a kiss to his cheek. "I love you, Jim."

"It was," he agreed happily, then pressed another soft kiss against her skin. He lingered for a moment, as if he was trying to just breathe her in and take in every single sensation she was making him feel.

At her words, though, he turned to her. The love he felt for her was clear in his eyes, and for a moment he could only look at her as if trying to figure out how in the hell he had gotten so lucky. "I love you, too, baby."

She smiled at him for a bit, then leaned in to kiss him for a long time. Almost like she was trying to make up for those eight months.

When she needed to break for air, she went back to running her hands up and down his back. "So besides doing the whole bed thing, and then going to my place to feed my cat, what else do you want to do today?" Carol didn't have any plans, and he was the one who had been away from the comforts of home for eight whole months.

Damn that need for breathing. It was a silly thing to want to complain about, but he loved having her lips against his and he just didn't want to stop even if he knew that they needed to.

After pressing another kiss against her collarbone, he shifted his position enough so that he could be laying on his side next to her. Even if he wasn't on top of her anymore, he kept his arm looped around her waist and ran his fingertips softly along her skin.

"You know, spending my day with you is perfect for me. I need to make a few calls at some point to let people know I'm back, but other than that I really can't think of anything better than to spend my day in bed with you," he leaned in to kiss her shoulder, "and going with you to feed Chewie. I'm not keeping you from anything, right?"

She smiled as he changed positions and she turned her head to keep their eye contact. Her hand continued to move his shoulder and chest. It was like she was unable to stop touching him.

"You're not keeping me from anything. I was going to go on patrol later, just in case, but I can let someone else do that." It wasn't just everyday that your boyfriend came home from deployment. "Right now there is nothing more important than you." Hopefully he knew how serious that statement was. That was right up there with "I love you" for how deeply she cared about him.
